Dazed & Confused editor Rod Stanley visited them at their studio base in LA for their only interview about this project, and was the first to hear their new music.”
From the September issue of Dazed & Confused, ‘The Outsiders’, a story captured by Sharif Hamza and styled by Dazed’s Senior Menswear Editor, Robbie Spencer with pieces from Fall/Winter /11 collections by McQ, Benetton, Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci, Roberto Cavalli, Dolce & Gabbana, Woo Young Mi, J Lindeberg and Levis.
“This was inspired by teenage angst, these days this is depicted by TV series like Skins, but I grew watching films like Over the Edge, Rumble Fish and The Outsiders. We wanted to do a group story, but one that actually focused on interaction between young people and not just models posing, it’s a house party that gets out of control going from social to violent“, Hamza says about the concept.
Sharif and Spencer wanted to expose the awkwardness of being a teenager and all the emotions that come with it, the shoot showcases a cast of fresh new faces acting like normal teenagers rather than models, making all their actions and poses feel genuine.
